Interview targets
Ben Sotherland
Shellfish picker
Lives in Brancaster Staithe
Currently running Cyril and sons shell fishing
The reason I have put him this list is because he is part of the industry and is part of a family business and could provide valuable information about the industry and how it has changed since his childhood.
Cyril Sotherland
Father of Ben Sotherland
Semi-retired shellfish picker
Brancaster Staithe Norfolk
the reason I chose Cyril is due to him experiencing the change in the industry through the millennia and could share his experience of the industry during the 20th century.
Potential question subjects
How has the shellfish industry crafted Norfolk?
How has the industry change?
How has the UK and the EU affected the industry?
What was the industry like when it was at it's strongest?
Have you sent any of your produce either out of the county/country? (if the answeris yes expand on the question to) if it has do you know where?
Revised question list
do you know what inspired you to start shellfishing?
do you think shellfishing is popular?
how has the trade changed since joining it?
which shellfish do you sell more of and why is that?
how long has the family buissness been going?
The questions I have used in my interviews
after looking over the 2 sets of potential questions for my interviewees and have decided to focus on the change of the industry and adapt them to my separate interview targets such as for Cyril ill try and focus on the change of the industry before the 21st centuary so for example I am not going to use questions such as is shellfishing popular because it doesn't help provide the information on the history of shellfishing instead its just a simple question and a pretty closed one at that.
Equipment list
camera equipment
Panasonic camera
Tripod for the camera
Shotgun Mic
Lappelle mic
Canon DSLR
Headphones
SD cards
I understand it is important to set and aim to achieve a target during each session. This Target Plan is my responsibility and it is to be brought to every lesson.

S.M.A.R.T
create a pitch for my FMP project for Tuesday 2nd of April it must detail why I'm doing this project and how imaging to make it . in this time I'm going to make 2 slides on how I'm going to make it and the proposed bibliography. it is achievable because I have a computer and the software to write these slides. this is relevant because it sets out what the rest of my project will be about the research parts and if this project will succeed via the pitch. the deadline will be by 4. |
what went well was that i completed the 3 slides to the pitch but what didn't work well was that making the bibliography i forget some of my resources i needed to list and this is because i forget to keep the html link to the page which contained the rest of the information in the need for a proper Harvard system bibliography

planning |
To conduct research into 4 more documentary directors and what ideals they carry into their projects
Complete an equipment list and location recce and maybe a risk assessment Look into potential interview targets |
what went well this session is that I was able to complete all of my targets but what could improve on is that when looking at the directors and their characteristics I need to ad the reference after I quote them and also add the book I used to my bibliography and when picking interview targets I need to add why they were put on the list.

to create a risk assessment for the whole production
|
I have looked into creating. either 2 separate assessments for on the land shots and on the boat shots so instead I am combining them both onto one risk assessment which I will finish next week

Intro Narration
The time i have lived in norfolk i have seen many wonders of the world but nothing compares to the beauty of the norfolk coastline and all the wonders and mysterys that it enties. over the years the ongoings in norfolk have changed but an industry that is cruscial to any coastline and especially norfolk is the fishing industry, this industry has provided a chosen few who have chosen being a fisherman as its not just a job its lifestyle.

You have done some great planing here Harry, your risk assessment is detailed and considers realistic measures to ensure that you, your crew and cast are safe when filming your project.
ReplyDeleteI would like you to revisit the question section and discuss what questions you are asking and why? for example, how does knowing if shellfishing is popular help develop your project?
-Have some story boards of what shots you want to include. For example, the interviewee doing their "things".
ReplyDelete-Say why you want to shoot at that specific location
-Say why you're asking these questions and covering these subjects and how the answer could change the documentary might be helpful
as alfie said, complete some timelines for your shots and also i dont know if you have asked anyone the questions but if you have put in there answer's and what knowledge/insight you have gained from this.
